The Irish Hills Leprechauns (1-1) jumped out to an early lead on the Lake Erie Monarchs (1-1) and captured a 10-1 victory on Sunday at Sienna Heights University.

With nine runs in the first three innings, the Irish Hills Leprechauns left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A hit by pitch and in the first inning and a two-run single by Justin Kelly and a groundout by Carsten Dembeck during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Irish Hills Leprechauns.

Ty Suntken had a hot bat for the Irish Hills Leprechauns. Suntken went 2-5 and scored three runs. He singled in the first and second innings.

Patrick Leatherman's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Irish Hills Leprechauns past the Lake Erie Monarchs. Leatherman allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over five innings.

Robert Zenas ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
