The Hamilton Joes (5-0) jumped out to an early lead on the S Ohio Copperheads (2-3) and captured a 14-2 victory on Thursday at Bob Wren Stadium.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Hamilton Joes left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A groundout by Ben Havel, a groundout by Havel, and a two-run home run by Dane Tofteland in the first inning and an RBI single by Jackson Boyce, an RBI single by Boyce, and during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Hamilton Joes.

The Hamilton Joes were led by a flawless day at the dish by Tofteland, who went 4-4 against the S Ohio Copperheads' pitching.

Darien Smith got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Luke Hansen (0-1) took the loss for the S Ohio Copperheads. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked two and struck out two.
