The Licking County Settlers (23-18) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Xenia Scouts (26-15), recording a 9-2 victory on Saturday at Don Edwards Stadium.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Licking County Settlers left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI double by Bo Decker, an RBI double by Robert Emery, an RBI double by Nick Vaage, and an RBI single by Mason McClellan during the first inning and a two-run home run by Kyle Hubbuch in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Licking County Settlers.

It was a good day at the plate for the Licking County Settlers' Vaage. Vaage went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run.

Bryan Cruse kept contact to a minimum, striking out nine the Xenia Scouts batters. Cruse allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks over seven innings.

Evan McDonald reached base three times. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

William Kruse couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Xenia Scouts, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
