Ryan Fournier was cold coming off the bench, but Fournier warmed up quickly as Fournier stroked a key pinch-hit single in the two to lead the Lake Erie Monarchs (13-18) to a 17-3 win over the Irish Hills Leprechauns (16-15) on Saturday at Flat Rock Field.
With the game scoreless in the second inning Fournier came to the plate and singled.
Fournier racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Lake Erie Monarchs.
Eight runs in the first three innings helped the Lake Erie Monarchs blow out the Irish Hills Leprechauns. A wild pitch, an RBI single by CJ Huntley, and a sacrifice fly by Maverick Prine in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Lake Erie Monarchs.
Huntley racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Lake Erie Monarchs.
Tyler Whitbread picked up the win for the Lake Erie Monarchs. Whitbread allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out six over eight innings of work.
Grant Peters (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked four and struck out two.
The Lake Erie Monarchs easily handled the Irish Hills Leprechauns pitching as seven hitters combined for 18 hits, 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
