The Galion Graders outdone by Haffey and the Lake Erie Monarchs, 5-2

Ross Haffey had two extra base hits as the Lake Erie Monarchs (3-1) took home a 5-2 victory over the Galion Graders (1-3) at Flat Rock Field on Wednesday.

He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fifth innings.

Tyler Whitbread pitched lights out for the Lake Erie Monarchs. Whitbread held the Galion Graders hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Despite the loss, the Galion Graders' Kent Axcell dominated the Lake Erie Monarchs' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out six.

Tyler Cowles had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and third innings.

Devin Peters recorded his first win of the year for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out nine, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Trent Downs was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
