A walk-off solo blast from Matthew Berler brought home the winning run for the Grand Lake Mariners (16-12) in a 7-6 victory over the Hamilton Joes (17-11) at Montgomery Fld (Eastview Pk) on Wednesday.
Berler racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Grand Lake Mariners. He doubled in the fourth inning, singled in the third and sixth innings, and homered in the ninth inning.
Shawn Mills pitched lights out for the Grand Lake Mariners. Mills held the Hamilton Joes hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
Andrew Almquist ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
