An outstanding effort by Justin Palmbos led the Grand Lake Mariners (7-0) to a 3-0 win over the Lima Locos (4-3) on Monday at Montgomery Fld (Eastview Pk).
Palmbos held the Lima Locos scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up seven.
It was a good day at the plate for the Grand Lake Mariners' Kyle Schimpf. Schimpf went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Channing Nesbitt couldn't get it done on the mound for the Lima Locos, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
