Daron Bowling was cold coming off the bench, but Bowling warmed up quickly as Bowling stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the Cincinnati Steam (16-11) to an 8-6 win over the Lorain County Ironmen (11-17) on Wednesday at The Pipeyard.
With the score tied at six, Bowling came to the plate and singled.
Jake Richmond had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the second inning, tripled in the eighth inning, and doubled in the ninth inning.
The Lorain County Ironmen couldn't get anything going so long as Bowling was on the hill. The Lorain County Ironmen managed just one hit off of the the Cincinnati Steam's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his 3 1/3 innings of work.
Russell Lamovec allowed three earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out 11 over eight innings of work.
Milo Sklar (4-3) took the loss for the Lorain County Ironmen. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
The Cincinnati Steam were sparked by Ethan Schmidt and Richmond, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
