An exceptional effort by Matt DeWald lifted the Green River (5-30) to a 1-0 win in eight innings over the Grays Harbor (3-28) on Sunday at Heritage Park.
DeWald held the Grays Harbor scoreless during his eight innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out five.
The Green River's lineup had no answer for Nickolas Jensen. The Green River managed just two hits off of Jensen, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out seven during his 7 2/3 innings of work.
Jensen couldn't get it done on the mound for the Grays Harbor, taking a loss.
