The Mt. Hood drop the Chemeketa 9-5 behind Benard's early single

Four first-inning runs helped the Mt. Hood (22-16) to a 9-5 win over the Chemeketa (23-16) at Mt. Hood on Saturday.

The Mt. Hood scored in the first on an RBI single by Isaac Benard, an RBI double by Nolan McCall, an RBI single by J.T. Williams, and an RBI single by Andrew Haley.

Benard did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Mt. Hood, reaching base four times. He scored four runs and had one RBI.

Nate Hunter picked up the win for the Mt. Hood. Hunter allowed two earned runs, three hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings of work.

Thomas Ahlstrom was hot from the plate for the Chemeketa. Ahlstrom went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Travis Klampe ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out two.
