The Yakima Valley (7-8) beat the Green River (1-9) 13-7 on Friday at Parker Field after a seven-run explosion in the second inning.
The Yakima Valley scored in the second on an RBI double by Kasey Bailey, an RBI single by Brandon Smith, a three-run home run by Connor Anderson, an RBI single by Tanner Parker, and an RBI single by Bailey.
Anderson racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Yakima Valley.
The Green River couldn't get anything going so long as Josh Foster was on the hill. The Green River managed just one hit off of Foster, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.
It was a good day at the plate for the Green River's Kekoa Nahaku. Nahaku went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings.
Chris Petrosie improved to 3-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Yakima Valley. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered three hits.
Matt DeWald ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
