The Seacoast Mavericks (14-34) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-4 to the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (21-24) on Saturday.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs took the lead in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Jake Alu.

Chris Chiaradio put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He homered in the fourth inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

James Nevant had a hot bat for the Seacoast Mavericks. Nevant went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning.

TJ Santiago improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He allowed four runs over six innings. Santiago struck out nine, walked one and gave up six hits.

Ryan Ricci (0-8) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs' Alu, Chiaradio and Tyler Hudson combined for seven hits and two RBIs.
