The Jamestown Jammers (17-8) beat the Champion City Kings (5-18) 6-3 in seven innings on Thursday at Diethrick Park behind Paxton De La Garza, who had two extra base hits.
He homered in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.Lee Sponseller was solid at the plate for the Champion City Kings. Sponseller went 2-3. He tripled in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.
The Jamestown Jammers' lineup had no answer for Pete Munger. The Jamestown Jammers managed just one hit off of the the Champion City Kings' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Cam Knott improved to 3-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Jamestown Jammers. He allowed three runs over five innings. Knott struck out four, walked one and gave up seven hits.
Jacob Burk (0-1) took the loss for the Champion City Kings. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked none and struck out one.
The Jamestown Jammers' Jalen Washington, Eric Solberg, Curtis Olvey and De La Garza combined for seven hits and five RBIs.
