Alec Altmyer hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as Altmyer tossed a shutout to carry the Springfield Sliders (2-2) to a 2-0 victory over the Quincy Gems (1-3) at Robin Roberts Field in seven innings.
Altmyer held the Quincy Gems scoreless during his seven innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up four.
Jake Wehde couldn't get it done on the bump for the Quincy Gems, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed two runs.
