A five-run explosion in the fifth inning spurred the Top Speed Baseball (17-4) to a 9-1 win over the OC Riptide at Vanguard University on Sunday.

The Top Speed Baseball scored in the fifth on an error, an error, a single by Drew Taylor, a hit by pitch, a two-run double by Steven Knudson, and a double by Sam Davison.

Matt Martinez put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Top Speed Baseball. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the first, third, and eighth innings.

Jordan Kurokawa pitched lights out for the Top Speed Baseball. Kurokawa gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Johnson took the loss for the OC Riptide. He allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out one.
