Great game from the Santa Fe Fuego's Numata not enough in 26-15 loss to the Trinidad Triggers

The Santa Fe Fuego (33-21) failed to take advantage of Chevas Numata's effort at the plate on Monday, losing 26-15 to the Trinidad Triggers (44-18) at Fort Marcy Park.

Numata hit two home runs for the Santa Fe Fuego. Numata went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and four runs scored. Numata homered in the first and second innings.

Caleb Bryson blasted two home runs for the Trinidad Triggers. Bryson went 2-6 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Bryson homered in the first and seventh innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 41 runs and 46 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with 12 pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.

The Trinidad Triggers turned the win into a rout with eight runs in the second. The Trinidad Triggers scored in the second on a solo home run by Shane Casey, an RBI single by Shea Bell, a three-run home run by Brian Rich, a solo home run by Edmund Cheatham, and a two-run home run by Trevor Sealey.

Christian Schneider recorded his sixth win for the Trinidad Triggers even though he allowed 13 runs over 3 1/3 innings. Schneider struck out one, walked two and gave up 12 hits.

Kahana Neal (2-1) took the loss for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed 10 runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out none.

The Trinidad Triggers easily handled the Santa Fe Fuego pitching as eight hitters combined for 25 hits, 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
