Derrick Fox went 2-4 and hit a home run, helping the Alpine Cowboys (39-26) to a 5-4 victory over the White Sands Pupfish (37-27) on Sunday at Kokernot Field.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the third inning.Brad Orosey put together a nice outing. Orosey held the White Sands Pupfish hitless over five innings, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out four.
Despite the loss, the White Sands Pupfish's Craig Gourley dominated the Alpine Cowboys' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.
Gourley ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year.
