Newton's walk-off single send the Santa Fe Fuego home winners, 10-9

A walk-off single from Eddie Newton brought home the winning run for the Santa Fe Fuego (17-7) in a 10-9 victory over the Las Vegas Train Robbers in 12 innings at Fort Marcy Park on Friday.

Newton racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Santa Fe Fuego. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the third, sixth, and twelfth innings.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 19 total runs and 31 hits during the game. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using 13 pitchers in total.

Chevas Numata improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. Numata struck out none, walked three and gave up two hits.

Tyler Shannon ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed one run.
