The Pompano Beach Clippers (10-1) and the West Palm Beach Sharks (2-5) each put runners in scoring position on Tuesday, but the Pompano Beach Clippers capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 6-5 win at John I Leonard H.S.

Scott Mathews had a hot bat for the Pompano Beach Clippers. Mathews went 2-5 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Erik Wiebke had an impressive outing against the West Palm Beach Sharks' lineup. The West Palm Beach Sharks managed just three hits off of Wiebke, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Despite the loss, the West Palm Beach Sharks' Chris Koppenhaver dominated the Pompano Beach Clippers' batters, giving up one run and striking out six.

Koppenhaver couldn't get it done on the rubber for the West Palm Beach Sharks, taking a loss.
