Troy Scocca clubbed two home runs to carry the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (26-18) to an 8-5 win over the Saugerties Stallions (13-32) at Veterans Memorial Park.

It was a good day at the plate for the Saugerties Stallions' John Giakas. Giakas went 3-5 and scored two runs. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and eighth innings.

David Palmer improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He allowed three runs over 7 2/3 innings. Palmer struck out three, walked three and gave up 10 hits.

Andrew Bruss (0-4) took the loss for the Saugerties Stallions. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked one and struck out three.

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs' Sam Machonis, Scocca and Matt Pagano combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
