An excellent effort by Charlie Sobieraski spurred the Newark Pilots (18-26) to a 7-1 win in seven innings over the Adirondack Trail Blazers (17-26) on Friday at Colburn Park.
Sobieraski had an impressive outing against the Adirondack Trail Blazers' lineup. The Adirondack Trail Blazers managed just one hit off of the the Newark Pilots' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.
The Newark Pilots' bats came to life in the sixth inning. The Adirondack Trail Blazers had no answer as the Newark Pilots scored five runs. The Newark Pilots scored in the sixth on a three-run double by Blake Valley, an RBI single by Kyle Norman, and a groundout by Cody Wiktorski.
Norman went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Newark Pilots.
Tim Burr (0-2) took the loss for the Adirondack Trail Blazers. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
