An ace performance by Phil Zdanowski hoisted the Saugerties Stallions (13-30) to a 6-1 win over the Amsterdam Mohawks (33-10) on Thursday at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field.
Zdanowski held the Amsterdam Mohawks scoreless for eight innings. Zdanowski struck out three and allowed one walk and four hits.
Dylan Sprague had two extra-base hits for the Saugerties Stallions. He tripled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Riley Mahan had a hot bat for the Amsterdam Mohawks. Mahan went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the ninth inning.
Brad Schaenzer couldn't get it done on the mound for the Amsterdam Mohawks, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
Eric Downey, John Giakas and Sprague helped lead the Saugerties Stallions. They combined for eight hits and two RBIs.
