Joe Venturino was cold coming off the bench, but Venturino warmed up quickly as Venturino stroked a key pinch-hit triple in the nine to lead the Saugerties Stallions (6-11) to a 2-1 win over the Glens Falls Dragons (6-10) on Saturday at Cantine Memorial Veterans Field.
With the Saugerties Stallions trailing by one in the ninth inning, Venturino came to the plate and tripled.
A walk-off by Eric Downey gave the Saugerties Stallions the win.
It was a good day at the plate for the Saugerties Stallions' Downey. Downey went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first and eighth innings.
Matt Wojciak got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Cameron Churchill (1-2) took the loss for the Glens Falls Dragons. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
