A walk-off single from Tyler Kirkpatrick brought home the winning run for the Amsterdam Mohawks (5-3) in a 6-5 victory over the Albany Dutchmen (4-3) at Shuttleworth Park on Wednesday.
Kirkpatrick had a hot bat for the Amsterdam Mohawks. Kirkpatrick went 2-5 and drove in one. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the ninth inning.
The Albany Dutchmen had no answer for Joe Randall, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Randall held the Albany Dutchmen hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Nick Cioffi pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out four.
Jake Mielock improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Amsterdam Mohawks. He allowed one run over one inning. Mielock struck out none, walked none and gave up one hit.
Jesse Cooper (0-1) took the loss for the Albany Dutchmen. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
