Gabe Levanti collected three hits, sparking the Newark Pilots (20-30) to a 9-6 victory over the Elmira Pioneers (33-17) on Saturday at Dunn Field.

Will LaRue was hot from the plate for the Elmira Pioneers. LaRue went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the second innings and singled in the first and fourth innings.

Michael Schuermann got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed one run over one-third of an inning. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Garrett Schilling ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
