An awesome effort by Chad Martin lifted the North Shore Navigators (15-8) to an 11-5 win over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (7-14) on Thursday at Doyle Field.
Martin rocked the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs with two home runs. Martin went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Martin homered in the third and seventh innings.
The North Shore Navigators turned the win into a rout with three runs in the ninth. The North Shore Navigators scored in the ninth on and a two-run single by Michael Rizzitello.
Eric Hassel was hot from the plate for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Hassel went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the fourth and eighth innings.
Thomas Lane improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the North Shore Navigators. He allowed one run over one-third of an inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.
TJ Santiago (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
