The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (21-20) beat the Wareham Gatemen (16-23) 9-1 on Wednesday at Spillane Field after a seven-run explosion in the eighth inning.

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox scored in the eighth on a double by Gio Brusa, an RBI double by Donnie Walton, an RBI single by Michael Donadio, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Doug Willey, an RBI single by Willey, and a two-run double by Brusa.

Brusa racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.

Ricky Thomas got the win for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox thanks to eight strikeouts. Thomas allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk over 6 2/3 innings.

Andrew Calica was hot from the plate for the Wareham Gatemen. Calica went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

Ben Parr (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
