The Brewster Whitecaps (21-16) and the Wareham Gatemen (15-21) both had scoring chances on Friday, but it was the Brewster Whitecaps that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-4 win at Stony Brook.
The Brewster Whitecaps were led by a flawless day at the dish by Toby Handley, who went 2-2 against the Wareham Gatemen's pitching. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the seventh inning.
Andrew Calica reached base four times. He singled in the third and sixth innings.
Jacob Jenkins got the win, running his season record to 2-2. He allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked none and surrendered nine hits.
Brett Hanewich ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
