Early lead gives the Orleans Firebirds easy victory over the Harwich Mariners, 12-3

The Orleans Firebirds (22-8) jumped out to an early lead on the Harwich Mariners (12-17) and captured a 12-3 victory on Wednesday at Eldredge Park.

With 10 runs in the first three innings, the Orleans Firebirds left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Ronnie Dawson, an RBI single by Alex Call, and a three-run home run by Nick Zammarelli in the first inning and a single by Willie Abreu, , a single by Daniel Pinero, , a single by Zammarelli, and during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Orleans Firebirds.

Zammarelli racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Orleans Firebirds.

Evan Anderson had an impressive outing against the Orleans Firebirds' lineup. The Orleans Firebirds managed just one hit off of Anderson, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.

Carmen Benedetti improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Orleans Firebirds. Benedetti struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Williams Durruthy (0-1) took the loss for the Harwich Mariners. He allowed nine runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.
