The Wareham Gatemen (2-1) jumped on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (2-1) early on their way to a 6-2 win on Thursday at Spillane Field, scoring three runs in the first inning.

The Wareham Gatemen scored in the first on an RBI single by Logan Sowers, an error, and an error.

Sowers racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Wareham Gatemen.

The Hyannis Harbor Hawks had no answer for Zac Houston, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks managed just one hit off of the the Wareham Gatemen's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his three innings of work.

David Martinelli had a hot bat for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. Martinelli went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the ninth inning.

Daulton Jefferies improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Wareham Gatemen. He allowed one run over five innings. Jefferies struck out four, walked none and gave up four hits.

Blake Quinn couldn't get it done on the mound for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
