Cameron Garfield went 2-4 and hit a home run as the Rockford Aviators (48-45) took home a 3-1 victory over the Frontier Greys (40-53) at Aviator Stadium on Thursday.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the seventh inning.Kyle Brueggemann kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Frontier Greys batters. Brueggemann allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks over eight innings.
A bright spot for the Frontier Greys in the defeat was Max Duval, who allowed only one run while striking out five.
Liam OSullivan (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
