A five-run explosion in the second inning carried the River City Rascals (41-32) to a 9-3 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums (41-29) at Wuerfel Park on Tuesday.

The River City Rascals scored in the second on , a double by Johnny Morales, a sacrifice fly by Hector Crespo, and a solo home run by Curran Redal.

Redal racked up three RBIs on one hit for the River City Rascals.

Joe Scanio got the win for the River City Rascals thanks to seven strikeouts. Scanio allowed three earned runs on six hits and no walks over seven innings.

The Traverse City Beach Bums were led by Brandon Jacobs's hitting. Jacobs went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.

Michael Shreves (6-2) took the loss for the Traverse City Beach Bums. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked four and struck out one.
