Steve Marino went 2-4 and hit a home run, sparking the Southern Illinois Miners (46-25) to a 7-2 victory over the Evansville Otters (46-25) on Saturday at Bosse Field.

He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners relied on Miguel Ramirez to eat up innings en route to the win. Ramirez pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and three walks while striking out four.

John Schultz reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the ninth inning.

Brodie Leibrandt brought the heat against the Southern Illinois Miners during his outing. Leibrandt held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Hunter Ackerman (0-1) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked none and struck out two.
