The Joliet Slammers (28-42) built an early edge on Friday, but the Florence Freedom (33-37) roared back to steal a 2-1 victory at Silver Cross Field.
While the Joliet Slammers led until the fifth inning, the Florence Freedom worked their way back and took the lead when Steve Carrillo was hit by a pitch.
Patrick McGrath picked up the win for the Florence Freedom. McGrath pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks while striking out two.
Spencer Medick ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
