The Schaumburg Boomers take out the Gateway Grizzlies with help from Bennett, 5-2

T.J. Bennett collected three hits, sparking the Schaumburg Boomers (28-38) to a 5-2 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (24-41) on Sunday at GCS Ballpark.

He singled in the second, fourth, and eighth innings.

Brett Mabry picked up the win for the Schaumburg Boomers. Mabry pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and no walks while striking out five.

Blake Brown had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Jordan Spencer brought the heat against the Schaumburg Boomers during his outing. The Schaumburg Boomers managed just one hit off of Spencer, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his three innings of work.

Collin Shaw (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
