A walk-off single from Brian Portelli brought home the winning run for the Southern Illinois Miners (43-23) in a 3-2 victory over the Evansville Otters (44-22) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Sunday.
Portelli paced the Southern Illinois Miners at the plate. Portelli went 2-4 and drove in one. He singled in the third and ninth innings.
Joe Iorio put together a nice outing. Iorio held the Evansville Otters hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Eric Green improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. Green struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.
Connor Little was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed one run.
