A great effort by Chris Sweeney lifted the Evansville Otters (43-20) to a 9-3 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (23-39) on Thursday at GCS Ballpark.

Sweeney blasted two home runs for the Evansville Otters. Sweeney went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Sweeney homered in the first and fifth innings.

The Evansville Otters turned the win into a rout with four runs in the seventh. The Evansville Otters scored in the seventh on a solo home run by John Schultz, a hit by pitch, , and a single by JD Dorgan.

Brett Marshall improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed two runs over six innings. Marshall struck out five, walked four and gave up five hits.

Vincent Molesky ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out 13.
