Brown's big day not enough as the Gateway Grizzlies fall to the Evansville Otters, 16-14

Blake Brown clubbed two home runs, but it wasn't enough to carry the Gateway Grizzlies (23-38) to a win on Tuesday, as the Gateway Grizzlies fell to the Evansville Otters (42-20) 16-14 at GCS Ballpark in 13 innings.

Chris Sweeney rocked the Gateway Grizzlies with two home runs. Sweeney went 3-7 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Sweeney homered in the third and eleventh innings.

The two teams combined for 30 runs and 38 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were 13 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Lance Phillips improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed four runs over 1 2/3 innings. Phillips struck out two, walked one and gave up four hits.

Tyler Thompson (2-5) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Evansville Otters easily handled the Gateway Grizzlies pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 15 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
