The Rockford Aviators (30-19) and the Washington Wild Things (23-29) each put runners in scoring position on Sunday, but the Rockford Aviators capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-2 win at Aviator Stadium.

David Popkins got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the first and third innings and homered in the seventh inning.

Eric Cendejas got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Ernesto Zaragoza couldn't get it done on the bump for the Washington Wild Things, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
