The Traverse City Beach Bums (29-15) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to the Southern Illinois Miners (29-17) on Tuesday.

While the Traverse City Beach Bums led until the fifth inning, the Southern Illinois Miners worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Eric Strano.

Jarett Miller got the win for the Southern Illinois Miners thanks to eight strikeouts. Miller allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over 7 2/3 innings.

A bright spot for the Traverse City Beach Bums in the defeat was Ian MacDougall, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.

MacDougall (6-2) took the loss for the Traverse City Beach Bums.
