Kramer Champlin hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Champlin threw a shutout to carry the Traverse City Beach Bums (24-11) to a 2-0 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers (15-22) at Wuerfel Park.
Champlin held the Schaumburg Boomers scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up four.
It was a good day at the plate for the Traverse City Beach Bums' Reggie Lawson. Lawson went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning.
Despite the loss, the Schaumburg Boomers' Eddie Cody dominated the Traverse City Beach Bums' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.
Cody couldn't get it done on the bump for the Schaumburg Boomers, taking a loss.
