Niko Vasquez clubbed two home runs, but it wasn't enough to carry the Southern Illinois Miners (56-29) to a win on Sunday, as the Southern Illinois Miners fell to the Evansville Otters (49-35) 7-3 at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

The Evansville Otters scored four runs in the first inning to build an early lead. The Evansville Otters scored in the first on a two-run single by Chris Sweeney, an error, and a hit by pitch.

Josh Allen got on base three times in the game for the Evansville Otters. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the third inning and homered in the fifth inning.

The Southern Illinois Miners couldn't get anything going so long as Edgar Lopez was on the hill. Lopez held the Southern Illinois Miners hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Will Oliver improved to 9-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Evansville Otters. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked four and surrendered five hits.

Rick Teasley (9-3) took the loss for the Southern Illinois Miners. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out three.
