Friday was a great day for Matt Bywater, as Bywater pitched a no-hitter to carry the Southern Illinois Miners (16-9) to a 3-0 victory over the Evansville Otters (17-8) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.
The Southern Illinois Miners were led by Jerrud Sabourin's hitting. Sabourin went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the eighth inning.
A bright spot for the Evansville Otters in the defeat was Trevor Walch, who allowed only three runs while striking out six.
Bywater improved to 5-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. Bywater struck out 10, walked two and gave up no hits.
Walch (2-2) took the loss for the Evansville Otters.
