A superb effort by Danny Canela spurred the River City Rascals (12-8) to a 12-3 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (6-15) on Saturday at GCS Ballpark.
Canela rocked the Gateway Grizzlies with two home runs. Canela went 4-5 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Canela homered in the fourth and sixth innings.
The River City Rascals blew out the Gateway Grizzlies thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The River City Rascals scored six runs in the fourth on the River City Rascals scored in the fourth on a solo home run by Hector Crespo, , a single by Curran Redal, , a groundout by Jackson Slaid, and a solo home run by Canela.
The Gateway Grizzlies jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Gateway Grizzlies were up until the fourth inning, but the River City Rascals had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back.
Tommy Organ struck out six hitters en route to the the River City Rascals win. Organ allowed three earned runs on three hits and four walks over six innings.
JaVaun West was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
