An ace performance by Michael Schweiss spurred the Normal CornBelters (4-3) to a 12-1 win over the Washington Wild Things on Friday at The Corn Crib.

Schweiss kept contact to a minimum, striking out 14 the Washington Wild Things (1-6) batters. Schweiss allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk over seven innings.

The Normal CornBelters blew out the Washington Wild Things thanks to 18 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Normal CornBelters scored five runs in the third on the Normal CornBelters scored in the third on an RBI single by Mark Micowski, an RBI triple by Patrick McKenna, an RBI single by Sam Judah, an RBI double by Richard Lucas, and an error.

McKenna racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Normal CornBelters.

Ryan Bores was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.
