The River City Rascals (1-2) and the Normal CornBelters (2-1) both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was the River City Rascals that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 2-1 win at T. R. Hughes Ballpark.
The River City Rascals relied on Joe Scanio to eat up innings en route to the win. Scanio pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, seven hits and no walks while striking out six.
Michael Schweiss allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out four over six innings of work.
