The Florence Freedom (2-0) and the Joliet Slammers (0-2) each put runners in scoring position on Thursday, but the Florence Freedom capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 3-1 win at UC Health Stadium.

Sam Eberle had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the sixth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Coleman Stephens picked up the win for the Florence Freedom. Stephens pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out four.

David Kubiak (0-1) took the loss for the Joliet Slammers. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
