The Terre Haute Rex need walk-off single to beat the Quincy Gems, 6-5

A walk-off single from Luke Ringhofer brought home the winning run for the Terre Haute Rex (42-15) in a 6-5 victory over the Quincy Gems (26-31) at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad on Monday.

Ringhofer was hot from the plate for the Terre Haute Rex. Ringhofer went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the eighth and ninth innings.

Luis Salas paced the Terre Haute Rex at the plate. Salas went 2-5, drove in one and scored three runs. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Matt Weissheier brought the heat against the Quincy Gems during his outing. Weissheier held the Quincy Gems hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

The Quincy Gems were led by a flawless day at the dish by Anthony Villa, who went 3-3 against the Terre Haute Rex's pitching. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and eighth innings.

Mitch Schulewitz recorded his fourth win of the year for the Terre Haute Rex. Schulewitz struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Elvin Ramos (1-4) took the loss for the Quincy Gems. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
