Extra-inning thriller favors the Butler BlueSox, 5-4 winners over the Quincy Gems

The Butler BlueSox (22-19) beat the Quincy Gems (15-25) 5-4 but needed 13 innings to do so on Friday at Kelly Auto Park.

With the score tied at four, Matt Hansen came to the plate and singled, plating Tymon White.

White paced the Butler BlueSox at the plate. White went 4-6, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, eighth, and thirteenth innings.

The Quincy Gems couldn't get anything going so long as Cody Jackson was on the hill. The Quincy Gems managed just two hits off of the the Butler BlueSox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his four innings of work.

Justin Wylie racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Quincy Gems. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the ninth inning.

Austin Piscotty ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
