The Quincy Gems (15-24) and the Butler BlueSox (21-19) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Quincy Gems that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-2 win at Kelly Auto Park.
Aaron Meyer was hot from the plate for the Quincy Gems. Meyer went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
Kade Granier's nine strikeouts were enough to push the Quincy Gems past the Butler BlueSox. Granier allowed two earned runs on nine hits and two walks over seven innings.
Cody Jackson brought the heat against the Quincy Gems during his outing. Jackson held the Quincy Gems hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Andre Jones (3-1) took the loss for the Butler BlueSox. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
